On 8th September, the Flemish Living Lab Agro-Ecology and Organic Agriculture visited the SoildiverAgro’s case study 6 at ILVO, where the cover crop sown at the end of August is just coming up.

A group of researchers, advisors, policy-makers, NGO-representatives and farmers learned about the trial setup and the first results.

CS6 studies an organic rotation with potatoes and barley, in which manuring with stockpiled farm yard manure (FYM) is compared to FYM co-composted with ‘brown’ material (e.g. grass clippings from nature reserves).  The effects of both types of FYM on crop performance and soil quality are compared.
