Kilpiä farm is a private research and education farm, located in Southern Finland in Pusula. The farm funds its operation by practicing sustainable agriculture and forestry. The main products are organic grain, vegetables, fruit and herbs. In addition the farm managers participate in farmer-to farmer education and producing extension materials to organizations working to help farmers.

Tuomas Mattila

Tuomas Mattila, PhD (Dr.Sc.Tech.) and MSc (Agr.For.) has 12 years of experience owning and operating the farm, and 14 years of research experience. His role is to set up and maintain the boreal case study 14 “Contrasting continuous plant cover with inversion tillage in wheat fields” in WP5 and also contribute the dissemination of the results in WP8 and WP2.
Person in charge for the Kilpiä farm partner and involved in tasks WP5 and WP8.

Iiris Mattila

Iiris Mattila, MSc (Appl.Microbiol.) is running Kilpiä farm with Tuomas. She is interested in applying the latest microbiology findings in common agricultural practices, carbon sequestration, biodiversity aspects, climate resilience and agroforestry. Her role is to set up and maintain the boreal case study 14 together with Tuomas in WP5 and she will also contribute the dissemination of the results in WP8 and WP2.
