Visit to Kilpiä farm in Finland!

Owners of the Kilpiä farm and Luke organized a visit to the Case Study 14a (Contrasting continuous plant cover with inversion tillage in wheat fields) demo site in Pusula Finland on the 24th of November. Last sampling event at the Boreal Region

From the 10th to the 13th of October the Boreal Region held its last earthworm and soil sampling event for case studies 13 and 15 in Latilia, Finland. This is the third year that earthworm and soil samples are being taken. The early potato fields were studied to see the effects of forest-based organic amendments and cover crops on soil biological diversity.

Finnish stakeholders get to know SoildiverAgro at two different events

SoildiverAgro was introduced to several Finnish stakeholders at Lepaa 2022 Horticultural exhibition which took place from 11 to 13th August. The discussions focused on fibres and catch crops were organized by Kauppapuutarhaliitto. SoildiverAgro partners Petla and LUKE participated with a stand. Also on the 16th, 40 stakeholders participated in a field tour, trial presentations and discussions, organized at Räpi by Petla, Apetit, LUKE, Pyhäjärvi-instituutti säätiö and Tampere University.

SoildiverAgro was displayed at the Farmari exhibition for Finnish agriculture, forestry and countryside, held from June 30th to July 2nd in Mikkeli, Finland. Farmari is an event for the whole family, presenting the modern Finnish food production chain from field to table. This is where professionals and consumers meet to exchange ideas and opinions. New discussion group at Boreal region

Finland hosts the first field visits

The first of the field days held in July was attended by about 75 farmers and advisors who analyzed cover and companion crops, organised by Tyynelä Farm. Participants performed several shovel tests in the field, to perform a simplified soil diagnosis. Soil specialists from University of Helsinki and local advisory oganization showed attendees how to perform a visual soil assessment for decision making.
