The SoildiverAgro 2024 General Assembly took place in Tartu, Estonia, on May 28th and 29th, marking a significant milestone as the project enters its final year. This five-year initiative has shown substantial progress, and the assembly served as a platform to consolidate final conclusions and outline forthcoming steps.
The event began on Tuesday morning, with leaders of various Work Packages (WPs) providing both general and specific updates on their progress. Notably, WP 3, 4, and 5 are nearing completion, with only a few remaining tasks. The focus for the last year will be on the socioeconomic WP 6 and WP 7, which is dedicated to analyzing the project’s overall outputs. The project is proceeding smoothly, with minimal delays.
Following the Work Package updates, attendees enjoyed a tour of Tartu, concluding the day with a social dinner featuring local delicacies, providing an excellent opportunity for networking.
The second day featured field trips to various cultivation systems across Estonia. These excursions allowed partners to explore different soil management techniques aimed at enhancing soil biodiversity.
At the end of the meeting, the coordinating team and partners agreed to hold the final General Assembly in Ourense, Spain, in May 2025.
