SoildiverAgro is pleased to announce the participation of Dr. Krista Peltoniemi, Senior Scientist and SoildiverAgro Boreal Coordinator, in the XII Soil Science Days 2025. This prestigious event, organized by the Finnish Society of Soil Sciences, will take place in Helsinki on January 6th and 7th at Tieteiden Talo. The meeting will bring together researchers, teachers, students, entrepreneurs, and experts from across Finland to explore cutting-edge research and trends in soil science.

This year, Soil Science Days 2025 will have a special focus on the role of healthy soil as a provider of ecosystem services. The event will feature a range of presentations and discussions from experts in various fields of soil science, aiming to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among scientists, policymakers, and industry professionals.

On January 6th at 14:30, Dr. Peltoniemi will deliver a talk titled “Response of Soil Communities after Ploughing in the Fields under Long-term Organic Farming with Reduced Tillage.” In her presentation, Dr. Peltoniemi will highlight key findings from the Boreal case studies CS14a and CS14b, exploring how reduced tillage and organic farming practices influence soil health, particularly the communities of fungi and earthworms. Her research underscores the long-term advantages of sustainable farming practices, offering valuable insights into how these practices contribute to the resilience and functioning of soil ecosystems.

With approximately 100 participants expected, this event provides a unique opportunity to engage with leaders in the field and explore the latest research on soil and its critical role in our environment. Don’t miss the chance to hear Dr. Peltoniemi’s insights on sustainable soil management practices.
