Harvesting melon at Cartagena

“Within the framework of the Soildiveragro project, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena has begun harvesting the Piel de Sapo melon of the Paredes variety grown at the Tomás Ferro Experimental Farm (La Palma, Cartagena). The project aims to improve the biodiversity of agricultural soils and establish a relationship between biodiversity and agricultural production and quality, as well as the effect on the reduction of fertilizers and phytosanitary products”.

Melon turn in the rotation sequence at Case study 1 at Mediterranean South

On the last 29th of March of 2022, UPCT started the third crop cycle in CS1, located in Cartagena, SE Spain, and based on multiple cropping and rotations. The trial started with the growth of potatoes (December 2020-May 2021), followed by broccoli (September 2021-January 2022) and now it is the melon turn, as the third crop in the rotation sequence in the same field.
